GREETINGS FROM SKI LODGE!

Happy new year everybody! 2008 ended in a huge party and fresh powder snow at the countdown for the new year at the Ski Lodge Engelberg, thanx for a great party :-) So, the first day in 2009 gave us the best powder day of the season, yeahh! The winter season has begun!!! Italy, Dolomiti, Fassa Valley my ski home resort is already covered by tons of fresh snow. Every rider has been called by lots of powder, such a perfet freeride day I spent in Marmolada with the sound of freedom. I woke up very early a day ago considering the recent snowfall had over here. Sunny, cold and full of freeride spirit inside me. The day, the day of a special freeride tour in Marmolada, my favorite spot to train phisicaly and mentality. I want to go, want to ski, That’s it. ...our first Shop in Shop at Kaisers in Sälen! Yes, it´s the deal now, the new hottest marketplace, Sälfjällsgallerian, will open and the premiere will be 12th of dec. We are stoked to be part of this, and of course we will be there at the opening! Hemsedal

Snow is falling and winter is coming and shops are getting prepped with new fresh gear to fit you. In the middle of the slopes the new Sportshop Hemsedal has entered the scene. This weekend they will have a lot of opening offers including the Kask helmet and goggle. I will be working on the floor so come in for chat/kaj

Stockholm at it's best!

Saturday I went to Stockholm Stadium for this years biggest snow event, LG Winter Jam. Snowboarders n Skiers kicked ass, the condisions was great and it was actually snowing this night as well, not that common in nov anymore... Anyway things was great, and in the skiing section the Scandinavians kicked ass, Jon Olsson was 2nd after the best man of the evening, PK Hunder from Norway! Hestra Gloves opening in Stockholm

Hestra gloves are now opening a new concept store in Stockholm! Me and Kaj went there saturday for testing all models, meet the customers and talk about skiing, gloves etc. It was a nice day and lot's of happy people looking forward to the upcoming season. Here Kaj went crazy, he couldn't decide witch colour to go for :-D

Free Radicals party in Stockholm

Roadtrip

Last week we did an awesome roadtrip starting in Rättvik sweden driving west to Norway. Car was loaded with bikes, skis, surfboards, wetsuits, skateboards, tent and sleeping bags. 1st day we did downhill biking in Gesunda, super good fun trails, second day we tried out rafting in sjoa which was nice. Day 3 we entered the bigger mountains in Stryn and went up on the glacier for a couple of turns, icy. Then we moved on to the grande finale, the Atlantic ocean for surfing, weather was on our side and we surfed into sunset. Everything was captured by our friend Jerk Looman and will be a tv-show on packat & klart to the spring.

Delivery times!

Delivery times at the Kask office! Now we are getting closer to winter, and it's time do send out our Kask stuff to the shops. The helmets, beanies, hoods and stuff is looking great, so within a few weeks we hope You will find Your favourite item in Your local shop :-D Here is Kaj trying to sort out witch box is going to witch country... We are happy to announce the Winner of the best beanie design at our Carl Larsson work shop earlier this summer. We got a lot of good designs but the outstanding winner was Matilda Wesslén 10 years of age. We totally loved Matilda's drawing of the slime monster and we are now making a prototype. Hopefully Matilda will like it when its transfered into a beanie, we will present it here soon.

Chile

Back in Winter! I went down to Chile with the Salomon team to test out some new skis. We went deep into the Andes, lived at a family farm far from everything. In the mornings we went with 4x4 trucks up threw the forest to the snow, from there we went with snowmobiles to the peaks. By hiking and sledding we reached mountains never skied before, we were also super lucky with the conditions, powder and a couple of sunny days made it a great adventure. Live a little/kaj

Summer!

Hello everyone, finally we got some great summer back home in Sweden. Time for recreation and getting in shape for the next winter, and of course having lots of fun at the same time, here around Fiskartorpet in Stockholm. Hejs Svejs / Sverre

Ak first day

We woke up to a perfect day with blue sky and no wind. We went out in the heli early morning to start looking for good runs, it looked easy with all the beautiful mountains, but it was not. The days before we arrived it had been hard winds which had hammered the snow into hardpack. We flew really deep into the mountain range and found some good stuff. In my first run i had great powder, on the top stomped a cliff and then straight lined out, second run I found my way threw a really cool and steep glacier although the snow was shitty. Third run I lined up a little bit more difficult line, it all looked like good powder snow  and the first turns was great but then the snow got harder and harder. Jumping a cliff in the middle I gained to much speed in the landing and got out of control trying to slow down. I did some ballet moves and in the end i twisted my knee badly. That was it for me I packed my things and flew back home to see a knee specialist.

Valdez

Finally it´s time for the highlight of the year, a trip to AK and valdez. I flew in this morning and it was sunny and beautiful and the weather report looks great for tomorrow so we will get out there and see what the snow is like. I am here with the Salomon team and Matchstick productions so the riders is Mike D, Mark Abma and me. Yea its gonna be so much fun:-)

Mica Heli Guides

Report from Mica Heli Guides, CANADA

After a pretty crazy season with a lot of traveling and a lot of free skiing competitions I’m now in Canada at the Mica Heli Guides lodge.

I’m here to ski some nice big mountain stuff, and finally let the Jah Love skis play in the right element!

I’m here with Nike ACG. I feel so fortunate being here, heli skiing some of the best terrain in the world. We are a very small crew, Myself as the athlete, Sasha from Wink Inc as a filmer, Seb as a still photographer and Spencer Francey from Chasing Winter Productions as the location
producer.

To get here is a little adventure by it self. I was flying from Stockholm Sweden, where I live, to Calgary via Frankfurt. After that you drive about five hours west, passing Revelstoke and until the road ends at the Mica dam.

Parking the car and loading the heli, flying into the unknown wilderness. The Mica Heli Lodge is located by the foot of the mountains, with a killing view filled with water and mountains, wow!

We have now been flying for three days, and the snow is great. The only issue for us, and it’s a BIG issue, is that there is a bad snow layer, about 80cm down under the fresh powder, that is very unstable. This means that the avalanche situation is forcing us to stay in the lower areas, and unfortunately we have to leave the big lines in the higher areas untouched…

I was here two years ago, and it was the totally opposite, to warm and wet to ski the lower stuff, so we had to fly far into the higher lines and glaciers to find the powder snow. That’s the way it is sometimes, you have to play with the rules by Mother Nature…

That’s kind of hard to deal with, since I have been traveling half the world to come here to ski some big lines, but what can you do?
Instead we have put our focus on pillow lines in more safe terrain, which is great! Skiing pillows is every skiers dream I think. The ones here is perfect, but at this time a little bit to hard to charge full on, but I’m sure Seb´s got some pretty nice stills on this trip for sure.

Anyway, tomorrow we are hoping for great weather again, Seb spotted a pretty crazy line today that I doubt anyone has ever skied before. I’m hoping to
to leave this trip with a first decent under my belt ☺/Sverre

Asle

Our kask friend Asle Tangvik took February off from his work at Sykkeldelisk in Oslo. He went to Zillertal Austria and was lucky with good weather and powder. Asle did some filming with the Schnabelkäse productions so we are looking forward to see his part to the fall. Asle is talented with extra good balance and is only skiing on one leg, very impressive. You will also see him compete at the norwegian freeride cup this spring, Go for it Asle.

xtreme

Yea, Kask Mask team rocked the Verbier Xtreme totally on saturday. Henrik Windstedt became World Champion by winning the whole tour. David Magnusson took third place in the Xtreme, Me (kaj) won the Xtreme by stomping my run like a flying squirrel. Sverre was really close to nail his run to after skiing super good all the way until last cliff where he went to big and blew up.Check our runs on www.freerideworldtour.com

Verbier Xtreme

Tomorrow its time for the Verbier Xtreme again. Unfortenately its not happening on the big famous face Bec de ros because the whole face went down in a big avalanche, so no snow left there. Now it will be on the Mont gele, today we have been checking it out with our binoculars chosing our lines. It feels great. Live broadcast at www.freerideworldtour.com

Last week the Kask Mask Team skied in the bigmountain pro. The week started out supernice with first a crazy big run in chamonix and then directly day after another run outside verbier which was more narly and rocky but cool. After that the pow snow was finished and so the comp. We did really good, from left on picture, David 10th (snowboard), Sverre 9th, Henke 5th (leader of the world tour) Kaj(behind camera) 1st place so you can easily say that the kask mask kicks ass, tjihoo.

SAAB

Finally a car made for skiers! I went to detroit and was part of the presentation of the new SAAB 94x Biiopower. It has build in skirack and ventilated boot compartment, biopower engine and xross wheel drive that gets you where you want.Yep its all good/kaj

Gerlos, Austria!

I have been one week in Gerlos, Austria, shooting pictures with Mattias Fredriksson.
We were a nice crew, with Mattis taking pics, Fred Arne as a filmer, me, Henrik Windstedt and Jon Larsson, hanging out.
It´s a cool little town about an hour from Innsbruck, close to Mayerhofen. So now season is full on, and now Im on my way to Qualifier for the World Tour in Mammoth, wish me luck! All best to all of  you riders!

Hemsedal

Yea Finally I got a great day of powderskiing, I went to Hemsedal norway this weekend and the snow laid deep and dry on the mountain. I was guided by locals around in gummiskogen all day and it was awesome skiing the famous threeruns. It is still snowing in Hemsedal so if you get a chance, go there.

WWF

Kask went for a meeting with the super nice organisation WWF. We want to work closer with them and help raising money for their projects around the globe. Hopefully we will have a Kask/wwf beanie in stores soon. WWF has the goal to create a planet where humans live in harmony with nature.

Surfing in Hossegor with X Travel

Hi! Just came back from a great surf trip in France. It was my friend Eric at X Travel who organized the trip, and the setup was sick! We stayed in his house, about 16 persons, and had about 200m walking to the beach. Surfing 6 days out of 7, perfect pre season training. Check out more at www.xtravel.se
Now Im back in Stockholm and waiting for the big fall storms to hit Torö for more waves ;-).

Jon Örarbäck, in the picture from one night session in Hossegor, went out on his board every day, with a broken femar..., good healing to him, and he kicked ass on his stomach!

Chris Davenport

Our kask family member Chris Davenport has done some amazing first descents in Alaska this summer. He hang out on the mountain Denali all of june where he climbed and skied it five times and three lines was never skied before, con gratulations Chris.Right now Chris is down in Portillo in Chile skiing and organising a freeride camp. He is probably making a powder turn while you are reading this!
